BIOGRAPHY MARK LUCAS

Mark has long been recognised as one of Australia's foremost drummers. His rock solid drumming and explosive solos with The Radiators have thrilled audiences for over 2 decades! Mark has also toured with Aussie rock legend Billy Thorpe. Mark has branched out into different musical styles and was one of the co-founders with one of Sydney's most in demand jazz bands Jazz Nouveau. Mark also brings not only his remarkable drumming ability,but also his song writing skills to the star-studded line up of The Yeehaa Boys. The Yeehaa Boyshave now firmly established themselves as one of Australia’s premier country bands. Collectively they have had over 9 number one singles and top tens, multiple platinum albums and played live to millions of people around Australia
and overseas.

1985/1989 - Played in original bands around Sydney including Pinkslips, Yeah Yeah Yeah and New Dreams.Taught drums in 15 schools in Western Sydney through disadvantaged school program, started teaching privately.

1989 - Joined The Radiators and started touring the following week with 4-5 shows per week.

1990 - Toured 3-4 nights per week and recorded Hardcore.

1991 - Hardcore EP. Toured nationally, all stages including Nth. Queensland and Western Australia including Kalgoolie, Esperance and Albany.

1992 - Performed 2 tracks from Hardcore on ABC’s ‘Live & Sweaty’ with Andrew Denton. Hardcore – the video’s all six film clips included interviews.

1993 - Continued touring whilst demo-ing next recording released ‘Rock n’Roll’ EP The Radiators doing KISS Rock n’ Roll All Night.

1994 - Released ‘Radiators’ – Self Titled aka the Black and White album. Toured all states including Nth Qld twice, East Coast, Western Australia, Mining towns Newman, Port Headland, Broome and through Kunnanarra, Kakado and Arnham Land, then two weeks later !! National Tour opening for Whitesnake playing at The Hordan Pavillion Festival hall and Entertainment Centres around Australia in 6 days.

1995 - Filled in for 3 months with Billy Thorpe on his national comeback tour. ‘In Their Element’ – Best of compilation put out by our old label with incorrect inner notes, photos, credits even names under the wrong guy! Released “Stone”EP.

1996 - Toured nationally again for most of the year and towards the end of the year recorded 16 shows for The Live Album – it was mostly one gig on 1st CD, other Cd was a compiled of other shows and some from the Whitesnake Tour.

1997 - ‘In the Roar’ -Double CD Live, released and toured nationally again !

1998 - The Radiators first overseas performance. The Radiators tour Australia and play in the UK. stayed on after the band returned home and worked at BBC Studio’s with Utopian Babies on the final stages of their album.

1999 - Recorded next album – in between gigs and tours.

2000 - ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ released with new film clip ‘Unsophisticated’ which gets regular rotation on new music channel Music Max. Lots of touring for the next 2 years promoting “Smoke and Mirrors” and ‘Radiology’ – The Complete Anthology. Also released in 2000 by Warners’, this album has tracks from all The Radiators albums. Touring with The Radiators started to become more selective with gigs after many years of touring. This gave time to pursue other musical ventures in between.

2002 - Formed ‘Jazz Nouveau’ with Joseph Calderazzo performing Jazz interpretations of modern pop songs featuring several female singers rotating.
The group quickly became one of the busiest combo’s around Sydney for the next few years, performing many corporate functions.
The group is still going strong.

2002/2003 - Co-produced and musically directed and appeared in pilot for a TV Variety show called ‘Who Tonight’, filmed at Fox Studio’s for Foxtel.

2004 - Formed ‘The Yeehaa Boys’ with Chris Fitzgibbon and Mick Buckley and Steve Balbi after finding our sound in a series of small gigs hit the Country Music Festival Scene.

2005 - Started a study with a Clinical Psychologist – Kerrie Powell. Evaluating and documenting the effects of drumming on children with ADD/ADHS at The Royal Far West School at Manly.

2006 - Toured with The Yeehaa Boys to Singapore and with The Radiators playing mainly around NSW and QLD ….

2007/2008 - The Yeehaa Boys released 3 singles and a Debut album – All the singles and film clips enjoying high rotation on Country Music Channel on Foxtel, regular TV appearances on Kerry Anne Kennerley – and breaking their own house attendance of Tamworth country music festival for 2 years running.

2009 - The Radiators started to play and tour more regularly than last few years tho the longest break off the road was 3 months(and that was in the 90s) – The Radiators 30th Anniversary Concerts in Sydney at the end of the year were 2 great nights with Dragon, Jenny Morris, Spy vs. Spy, Screaming Jets opening for The Radiators.

2010 - Saw tonnes of gigs and a national tour to celebrate The Radiators 30 Years, it included Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, Far North Queensland . Continued writing songs and recording The Yeehaa Boys second album.
